Administrative Assistant - Community Development Department and Building Division

Oakdale, Minnesota (current population: 28,315) is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Administrative Assistant.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assists the public with building and zoning information, fees, and other information as requested or needed.
  • Accepts and processes payment for permits, escrow deposits, and licenses.
  • Issues building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, grading, and other permits.
  • Maintains records pertaining to: zoning, building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and grading by scanning all documents into a document management system.
  • Issues annual Rental Housing License and payments. Maintains license and inspection records.
  • Enters, and maintains, parcel/owner information through Washington County and/or property owners.
  • Compiles public data, and completes monthly reports for government agencies, other city departments, various research centers, and Oakdale school district.
  • Provides administrative assistance to the Community Development Department as requested. 
  • Update/verify contractor state license, bond, and certificate of insurance database.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Office management experience
  • Two years of experience in buildings, city codes, state report requirements, Metropolitan SAC, public administration, Permit Technician and computers.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Three years of progressively responsible work experience in public sector or local government Experience with government zoning or building code.
  • Experience in construction field or project management.
  • Certified ICC “Permit Technician.

  • 2022 Pay Range: $27.05 - $33.81 per hour
