The 2021 Arbor Day Tree Giveaway will be held on Saturday, May 1, from 9am-12pm. The City will be handing out a total of 200 trees, free to Oakdale residents.
This year's event will be a drive-thru event - with trees being handed out in the Walton Park parking lot off of 15th Street by the bandshell. Participants must register for a tree pick-up time in advance. Register now for a pick-up time.
Participants will also receive a free seed planting kit or pinecone birdfeeder kit - provided by the local Cub Scouts.
The following trees will be available at this year's event. You will need to indicate your choice of tree when you register. There are a limited number of each which will be available on a first come first served basis. One tree per Oakdale address. Register now.
This slow-growing, hardy, medium-sized tree has slender, spreading branches. Hop-like fruits add interest in late summer and the persistent brown leaves add winter interest. Good for street or lawn, it is tolerant of dry locations. 2008 GreatPlants® for the Great Plains Winter.

This smaller ornamental tree is grown for its white flowers, handsome foliage, and showy red fruit. The hardiest of the species in this country, it is slow growing and resistant to disease.

Excellent in both wet and upland soils, this tree has a coarser, less deeply incised leaf than Q. alba, and acorns borne on 2-4" stalks. It shows good transplant success. Named a 1999 GreatPlants® for the Great Plains Award winner.

An early season apple that is crisp and juicy with an above average sweet tart flavor. Stores well after being picked in late August in the Midwest.

A free mobile shred-it event will be held during the Tree Giveaway, in the northeast corner of the City Hall parking lot. 10 bag limit per person - COVID safety measures will be followed. The shred-it event is sponsored by Keller Williams Premier - Eberhard Group.
