Environmental Division

Oakdale is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its citizens by providing services dedicated to protecting the environment, and public health and welfare, while embracing sustainable practices. The Environmental Division operations fall under the Community Development Department.

Minnesota GreenStep Cities

Oakdale participates in the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program to help the City achieve its sustainability and quality of life goals. The GreenStep Cities program is a voluntary challenge and assistance program for cities based on best practices that focus on cost savings, energy use reduction, and encourage civic innovation. Generation Green Sustainability Plan

The City's Generation Green Sustainability Plan prioritizes goals and creates a long-range strategy in a number of key areas such as: energy conservation and alternative energy, transportation, surface and ground water quality, recycling and waste reduction, open space and urban forests, and community health and food.
